Weekly Meditation Satsang

Come join us to this gathering of like-minded souls for devotional chanting, silent meditation, and informal sharing on a spiritual topic for the week.

Each week our satsang starts with Yogananda’s Energization Exercises. We then chant and meditate together. We end with a reading and informal discussion on a spiritual topic for the week.

Meditation is one of the most natural and rewarding of all human activities. It gives direct, intuitive experience of higher realities, and is the cornerstone of true spirituality. It also brings balance, rest, and a growing inner peace. While its highest and original purpose is to help us awaken our inner, spiritual nature, the benefits to body and mind are well established by medical research.

The Energization Exercises are a wonderful system of exercises originated by Paramhansa Yogananda, and are his unique contribution to the science of yoga. Their purpose is to learn to control the flow of energy throughout the body. When we can control our energy, we can also control our thoughts, and are able to direct our energy into the spiritual eye, helping us to achieve Self-Realization.

Chanting before meditation greatly enhances the practice, because it helps to command our thoughts and direct them dynamically towards God. In chanting, we are singing to God in a deeply intimate and loving way — which is the most magnetic way of all, if we are to draw His response.
